Since September 2020, the Pacific Free Trade Zone (ZFP) has implemented specific actions to promote the circular economy and the competitiveness of the companies operating in its industrial park, with the creation of a solar farm. Located in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, this solar farm consists of more than 6,900 panels and generates approximately 45% of the electricity consumed by the park.
Inaugurated in March 2023, it has a capacity of 2.6 MW and produces 2,630 MWh annually, mitigating 1,254 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the absorption of 14,622 trees per year. Due to this infrastructure, the free trade zone not only produces clean and renewable energy but also provides companies with savings of up to 30% on energy costs, improving profitability and supporting sustainability.
The black lines show the park’s achieved scores in 2024 for each Eco-Industrial Park aspect (Economic, Environmental, Social, and Park Management), while the green lines indicate the expected scores by 2028.
